The challenge

NeoBank Corp's finance team relied on a legacy ledger that couldn't keep up with transaction growth. Month-end close took more than two weeks, reconciliations were spreadsheet-based and auditors flagged gaps in traceability.

The migration had to happen without interrupting daily operations or losing a single cent of history.

Problems & solutions

Problem 1

Millions of historical records

Years of journal entries had to be migrated with balances matching to the cent.

How we fixed it

We built a staged ETL pipeline with chart-of-accounts mapping, batch loading through optimised SQL and automated trial-balance comparisons after every batch.

Problem 2

High-volume real-time posting

The core banking platform generates thousands of transactions per hour that must reach the ledger.

How we fixed it

A secure posting API aggregates transactions into summarised journal entries per product and day, with idempotency keys and a dead-letter queue for failures.

Problem 3

Audit and compliance

Every posting needed to be traceable back to its source transaction.

How we fixed it

Each journal line stores its source reference and hash, entries are locked after close and an immutable audit log records every change.

What we delivered

  • Chart-of-accounts redesign and multi-currency setup
  • Historical data migration with automated balance checks
  • Real-time posting API from the core banking platform
  • Automated bank and settlement reconciliation
  • Period locking, audit log and maker-checker approvals
  • Regulatory and management reporting packs

How the system flows

  1. 1Core transaction
  2. 2API aggregation
  3. 3Journal posted
  4. 4Auto-reconciled
  5. 5Period locked
